Recount: Year 6 Highlights 2023

In Term 1 we had a picnic day and we had year 5&6 camp but my favourite thing we did was year 5&6 camp because It learned lots of new things like how to skateboard and kayaking and we did slip and slides I loved it and that’s what I like about Term 1.

Then in Term 2 we did Fiafia and like for the last 5 or 6 Weeks before Fiafia we had to practise our dance for 30 minutes. Before home time on Thursday and Friday every week when it was Fiafia night my mom said I could have 20 dollars.  For food oh and by the way I am in the  Cook Island group if you were wondering and we had to wear a crop top and I loved our dances and that was Term 2.

Term three was the worst because we had cross  country and we had to practise running around the whole school twice but that was not

even the worst when  it was the real day it was twice as bad as the practise and my home colour was green.

Term 4 was the good but was not the best because of killer hill and was the worst hike I ever went on but we went on the hike just to see a freaking beach but it was kinda cool because I got a starfish they were saying it was poisonous but it was not poisonous at all and we did many new things and I liked camp it was a fun experience.

Year 6 Camp Recount

Last week on Tuesday it was the start of year 6 camp week and I had no idea what was coming.  First  we had this terribly insanely long bus ride and half way through the bus ride this guy got mad at the bus for some reason. He poked the finger at us and I got so mad  I almost poked it too but someone stopped me.

Then after that insane bus ride we had morning tea. After they finished packing our bags into the boat, we lined up in our camp group. I was in Kawau group. It took longer than I thought to get to the camp site because we had to pick up some people on the way. But when we got there they said “Welcome to Camp Bentzon.”

After that we looked around for 5 minutes. We sat down on the grass and someone had to go to the beach and get a rock and put it in a rock tower and say a speech for this tradition. They do it every year. Then we went on the worst hike ever to exist! We had to walk up a whole lot of stairs, then a giant hill. We walked in zig zags up the whole mountain. We placed the rock on top of the rock mountain. Palu’s dad put a small log on it with our names on the log.

From there it was all downhill. It was easy but hard at the same time. When we got there I was so mad because we had to walk up this stupid hill just to see a beach. Then we had to walk all the way back. I swear if I died it’s because of that hike and some people didn’t even go. I was so jealous.

After that terrible hike we were finally back at camp Benzon and had lunch. We had free time for 10 minutes after lunch. Then we lined up in our team lines and the perfect line got 50 points. Mr Somerillve had some notices for us but then we got free time and most of the girls sang songs. Then at 6:30 we had dinner. After dinner we went to our cabins and got changed into our PJ and brushed our teeth. We watched a movie before going to bed. That was just the first day of camp.
